Summer. In, what, 4 days?

Last time I updated it was snowing. Now it's almost summer. Crazy talk right there.

So. Um. Biggest news is that we're playing at The Fox (!) this Friday, June 20th, opening up for RAQ. So, Boulderites, come one come all. Check out all of the shows on the Shows Page. Fo sho'.

We seem to be somewhat popular... at least when it comes to winning awards. We were voted, by a panel of our peers (meaning other Fort Collins Musicians), the best Jam Band in Fort Collins. Not bad. Not bad.

And now, monkeys racing bears... on Bicycles!

Who Likes Spring Snow?

Yup. It's snowing, and it's spring. Post Easter Spring even. We spell that Colorado.

So. Wasabi was interviewed by Relix. Yeah, THAT Relix. The magazine. Read the interview right HERE!! And, they put up a couple videos of us. You can watch those right --------> here. I'll be putting permanent links to these videos, or embedding them at some point if I can, on this here website.

Here are some photos taken from the March 1st show at Herman's Hideaway. Enjoy. They taste good with a bourbon and ginger. (Pics courtesy of Rock On Colorado)

An Update!?!?! Hold On To Your Butts Kiddos... It's An Update

Yeah, I'm surprised too. An actual Wasabiband.org update. I know. Wow.

Well, I had problems with the FTP access for awhile (it went down), the website domain name expired for awhile, I forgot the login information for awhile, I'm really busy (what with work and, well, playing music believe it or not), and, to be honest, I'm a bit lazy. Take all of those factors, and BLAMMO!! It's been a few months since I've updated. Sue me. Please.

So, this update isn't much, it's just a quick one to get the Shows Page back on schedule. Which, if you're here, you should check out. Because we have some pretty stellar shows coming up.

In other news: Did you have a happy thanksgiving? How was your Halloween? (ours was great!) Christmas go OK? What did you do on New Year's Eve? Winter's here, but the snow is not. Spring is near, and it's warming up. We love you, and your naughty film collections. Come over some time and bring a couple choice flicks. It'll be AMAZING. Promise.

Naughty Film Collection: The Gilmore Girls are Naughty because they're as boring as watching a TV show about a mother and daughter and the foils and fables of their daily lives.

Oh oh, updates should definitely be coming much more often because I have set up my computer at work to do it. So all 3 of you who check this website out (HI MOM!), be prepared to be presently presented a present of presence in the present tense.

Falling Down, Cooling Down, Getting Down, Down Syndrome

The temperature is finally cooling down. Soon the leaves will begin to change color, and we'll have our first frost of the season. This summer was scorching, both meteorologically and musically. We had a blast. However, I personally welcome the change in degrees with arms wide open and an eagerness unmatched by even the most righteous zealots.

We have some pretty gnarly shows coming up in these fall months. Check out the shows page for a full list. We're playing with Donna Jean; we're playing at the Mishawaka with our good friends the 3 Peas; we're playing at the Sky High Music Festival; the Colorado Music Summit; and there will be some Halloween shenanigans that will put the muse in music. (And yes I said "gnarly". Welcome back to the 80s kids)

This past weekend we had the priviledge to play at the Ramble In The City festival down in Denver with our friends White Water Ramble. Those guys know how to put on a show. We had a shit-ton (about 3 times as heavy as a metric ton) of fun, and we met a lot of fantastic people and musicians. If you were there, then you know just how great the night was. Oh oh oh, and the venue, the White House Lounge, is one helluva place. We get to go back there for the Sky High Music Festival on September 29th.

Last week we opened for The Drew Emmitt Band at the Aggie. That cat has a voice that makes a nun's tunic moist. Just killer.

For those of you who have yet to hear our new CD The Border... you make Baby Raptor Jesus cry. Please make him happy... and tune in to Wasabi. You can listen to it here, order it here, buy tracks from here and at iTunes. Remember, we need to feed our children. And our grandchildren. And our great grandchildren. And your children keep coming over and raiding our fridge too. Which is fine really. As long as you help us buy the food that they eat. And you can do that. Easily. By buying our new CD. SEE WHAT I DID THERE?? Huzzah!

I'll be putting some live music on our Music page soon, so stay tuned for that. Because you know you love us. And we love you. Why don't you ever return our phone calls? We promise not to talk to other fans anymore. Just you baby. You're the only one. We swear it this time.

Summer In Full Swing

Well well well well. This summer has been great thus far, and we still have more shows to play, and more music to embrace.

The big news is that Wasabi won the Best Jam Band/Improv Band in Colorado in Westword's 2007 Music Poll. Yes. You read that right. WE WON! Holy smokes and what the hell happened there?? Thanks to all of you who voted for us. We love you. And, as I promised in various Myspace messages, mailing list exclamations, and word of mouth tick talk, we will have your baby for you, make you cheese cake, and, basically, make you feel like the supreme ruler that you are. We love our fans!

We were in Indiana last weekend, and while it was beautiful and a pretty good time, some crazy shit happened. I had to miss our final show (scheduled at the Shoreline Brewery), so I could go to the E.R. and have my appendix taken out. Pure pain. Pure chaos. But, we still had fun overall. Cheers to Randy for taking us in and making us family again! Randy is now officially a member of the Wasabi family. Quite an honor right there.

We have a bunch of shows to flesh out the summer, and as always, we're booking more and more. Check out the Shows Page for a complete list.

Shows Shows Shows Shows

The headline pretty much sums up this update. We have shows booked, and more on the way. It's wonderful

We're playing a private party this Friday, so you can't really come (then why am I telling you about it??)... yeah... however, you lucky dogs you, on Sunday we'll be at City Park for the ol' Earth Day Celebration. This is the fifth year we've been invited to play at Earth Day (I think... it could be the sixth year actually... my memory slips the older I get... what was I saying?) The festivities begin at noon, and Wasabi will be kickin' it righteously at 4:00 p.m. Don't you just love Mother Earth?

Check out the Shows Page for a complete list.

Oh, and for those that didn't know, Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters came out on Friday. I have not seen it yet, but I have to see it before the week is up (here in Fort Collins, if it's not a blockbuster, or at least a really popular yet crappy teen movie or a horrendous "X-TREME!" racing movie, it doesn't last longer than one week... the support for movie arts is horribly retarded here. I have heard that we are getting an independent movie theater though, so that's something to look forward to eh??)

Songs from "The Border" on the Myspace page

Quick, uber fast update here. Just wanted to let y'all know that I've posted some songs from "The Border" on our Myspace page. We got the disc back from Airshow, and they are about to be printed. But, I thought I'd let you hear what they sound like... because, well, they sound fabulous. Huge props to Jim at Airshow Mastering.

Album Almost Done

Been a long time since I've updated the news section, but we've been busy with the finishing touches on the album(!)

"The Border" has just undergone a righteous mastering session at Airshow Mastering in Boulder, CO. We plan on getting this bad boy out in May, and we'll be doing several CD release parties around Colorado.

Thus far we have:
*May 25th at Hodi's Half Note in the home town
*May 30th at the Fox Theatre in Boulder (with Arthur Lee)
*June 2 at Dulcinea's 100th Monkey in Denver

We're also working on Wyoming and something in the mountains of Colorado.
Check back here for more news.

Also on the schedule: April 7th at Hodi's Half Note with The Atoll opening. Now that... well... that's just hot.

Spring has sprung, like it does every year. And I love it love it love it, like I do every year.

The Starlight Re-opens as Hodi's Halfnote

For all you Fort Collins animals out there, you know the local music scene took a big 'ol hit to the gut when The Starlight closed it's doors. Well, it's re-opening as Hodi's Halfnote on February 7th. Guess who the very first band to play music in this new place is going to be? Yup, Wasabi. You're a good guesser. We'll be supporting The Station for this historic local music extravaganza.

Other shows are in our future so make sure to check out the Shows Page.

Don't forget, tomorrow night we're at Cervante's Masterpiece Ballroom with Shakedown Street.

January 12, 2007

Happy New Year

Wasabi has been selected, yet again, to play at this year's Waka Winter Classic at the Aggie Theatre On Wednesday January the 17th. The whole event starts off at 8:45, and Wasabi will be playing at 9:45. Please come out and vote for us, as the winner of this "battle of the bands" gets to play at this year's Wakarusa!!

We'll also be at the Aggie Theatre on the 19th supporting Kinetix and The Tao Jones.

Finally, on January 26th, we'll be at Cervante's Masterpiece Ballroom supporting our good friends Shakedown Street.

Looking for a photographer

We are in desparate need for photos (preferably in digital format) of Wasabi. Both live and off the stage (promotional photos, if you will) pics are needed.

If you'd simply like to come to a Wasabi show and shoot away and send us the files, that would be great and much appreciated. We'll try and make sure you drink free, if we ourselves are drinking free at that show.

If you require some form of payment, then contact us and we'll try and see if we can work something out.

We're also working on our sophomore album*, and it is nearing completion. We need photography and/or artists and/or ideas for the album. We'd certainly be willing to pay for this, but we'd thought we'd check with you, our fans, first.

Just drop us a message and we'll chat. Thanks!

And of course, on this day, one of my favorite holdiays, I couldn't leave without saying: Happy Solstice!

*Note: our sophomore album will not go through the sophomore slump, as it's going to be far superior to our freshman debut. It'll rock your nuts off, in point of fact.

November 17, 2006

Well, our completely bare schedule didn't last long. Thank the heavens above and below. We'll be heading up to the mountains in December, as well as back on down to Denver. You can check out the Shows page for more glorious information.

For those who didn't know it: the Democrats won last week. I know thousands of readers check the Wasabi website on a daily basis for the latest in world affairs and U.S.A. politics. I hope the fact that I only post such amazing news every couple of weeks doesn't diminish your fervor for our unbiased reporting.

And in other news:

Just remember, you heard it here first.

November 3, 2006

Halloween was a blast. Thanks to all who came out and listened... and dressed up too. Thanks to Modus and Zebra Panic for playing. All in all I give the night an A++ with extra credit.

For the first time in a long time, we have no shows scheduled. It's pretty weird really. However, we'll take this time to hopefully finish up the album; you know, those final touches that really make an album. That's what I'm talkin' about.

If we're lucky, we'll have a couple songs to post on the site from last night's show at Quixote's down there in Denver land. Coming through (again) with the taping gear and time to tape was our good friend Harrison.

The forums here on Wasabiband.org are lonely without you. So join up and shoot the proverbial shit. You know you wanna.

October 1, 2006

The Sustainable Living Fair was awesome. Thanks to all who came out and supported local music, and sustainable living.

We have the pleasure of opening up for RAQ on October 18 at The Aggie Theatre. Which, of course, is awesome.

September 15, 2006

Not a big update at all. No no. We're playing at the Fort Collins Sustainable Living Fair this Saturday at 4:00 p.m. at the New Belgium Brewery with a plethora of other great local bands.

Also, we're gonna freak out on Halloween at Road 34 in Fort Collins. Righteous.

And finally, we're busy in the studio working on our tracks for our next CD. It's coming along really well, and I'm quite excited. Got a lot of work to do on it though, but I'll keep you all posted on the progress.

August 21, 2006

We've been really busy this month. And it's been glorious. We don't have too much on our schedule right now for the upcoming months, but I expect that to change pretty quickly.

In the mean time, check out the Audio page for some recent tunes, recorded at our May 23rd show from the Aggie Theatre.

July 12, 2006

Well, my harddrive crashed. Actually, my logic board decided to kill itself, and it took my harddrive out so as to have a companion for the jouney to the eternal ether. I thought all the info for the web was looong lost. Soon, during a period of brooding that wasn't too becoming, I thought I was looong lost as well.

Then just a couple of days ago I realized that I had uploaded all my files to the website server. Der der der. One must do such a thing if one is to have a website. I didn't lose a thing! So, this is me, updating.

We went to Indiana last week and had a few shows in Michigan City, which is Ehren's hometown. It was great. We're slowly crossing off each of the 50 states, one by one. They liked us so much that they decided to ask us back in November, and we've decided to say yes. It's like a marriage. A marriage of rock.

I'd like to send a big thank you to Randy Vissing for putting us up (the whole damn band) in his house. Not only did he put us up, but he put up with us, AND fed us! All rock bands need to be lucky enough to meet people like him. I'd also like to thank Ben Vissing for being righteous and a righteous harp player and Blake Vissing for being a shredder. And, let's not forget Ma and Pa DeSoto (Crumpler's folks). I'd certainly have withered away a hungry and lonely boy if it weren't for them.

Well shit, I hope the band makes this many friends every damn place we're fortunate enough to go.

June 6, 2006

I don't actually know if anybody reads these news updates. For all I know, I'm the only one that checks out our website... but alas I shall push forth.

Moab was awesome. Hot. Not just like: "Hey man, it's kind of warm." No, no. Severe heat. 100+ degree heat, with no shade to escape into. Brutal. However, the weekend itself (meeting the other bands, hearing all the music, playing our own set, the Colorado River, etc...) was fantastic.

June 1, 2006

It's June already! Yowsa and a half. We're just getting ready to head out the door and get our asses to Moab for the weekend. However, there's enough time to tell y'all that on June 24th, we'll be opening up for Melvin Seals and JGB at The Aggie Theatre. Pretty nice eh? We thought so.

May 30, 2006

Well, May 26th at the Aggie Theatre was awesome. Thanks to all of you who came out and made the night one to remember. Fuck yeah. We leave in a couple days to play in beautiful Moab, Utah at the Desert Rocks Music Festival. And on June 17th, we'll be back at The Aggie with our good Friends Shakedown Street. The last time we played with them was a helluva time. I don't expect any less.

May 19, 2006

Summer. Well, technically spring right NOW... but summer is on it's way. Around the corner if you will. Delicious. We're at the Aggie Theatre with our good friends Guarache on Friday, May 26th. And in Moab Utah on Saturday, June 3rd at the Desert Rocks Music Festival.

Also, just in time for a spring fling/summer goodness, we'd like to announce the newest member of Wasabi, Eric "Bulldog" Skjerseth on Bass Guitar. No, we didn't kick out Ehren, which I know will upset some of you, as you wanted him to leave asap... but we didn't, and we play the music, so we win... he's staying, but on rhythm guitar. That's right, we're now a full blown six piece rock and roll tour de force. It's glorious.

April 29, 2006

Got a few more shows listed on the Shows page. It's shaping up to be a great summer.

April 7, 2006

We're pleased to announce that we will opening for Fareed Haque Group this Sunday, April 9th at The Aggie Theatre. Hooha and boy howdy.

The Audio page was updated with a complete recording of our perfomance at the Aggie Theatre on March 25th. Check that shit out.

March 28, 2006
